Let Your Adventures Continue to Miquelon and Langlade
Are you someone who loves nature?
If so, Miquelon and Langlade is the place for you!
Miquelon, although having just over 600 people living on the island is actually the bigger of the two islands. To travel to visit you can take a 1.5 hour ferry ride directly from Fortune, Newfoundland, a 1.5 hour ferry direct from Saint Pierre or from the Saint Pierre airport a 10 minute plane ride in an 8 seater plane. This plane ride is something to be experienced; the plane does not fly high so you get to see beautiful views of the islands from the sky. There is lots to experience in Miquelon such as local businesses, a nature museum, bakery, church, lighthouse, boat, and capturing beautiful views from lookouts located all over the island. You can visit the “Must Sea’s” section of this website to find Google map locations of areas you must visit.
This area of the archipelago is where most of the wild life live such as; deer that were introduced to the island in the 70’s, rabbits, foxes, many species of birds that people come to bird watch. Miquelon supplies the archipelago with many different meat products; there is a goat farm that makes goat cheese products and you can take a tour of, eggs and root/leafy vegetables.
Attached to Miquelon by a sandy isthmus is the beautiful Langlade, where many people have summer homes. Langlade is enriched with nature, from hiking trails to explore and of course the iconic sandy beaches that have large sand dunes.
If you are planning a trip to Saint Pierre, I recommend heading to Miquelon as well. Each island has something different to offer which will give you the whole experience of Saint Pierre AND Miquelon.
Why only visit one French island when you can visit TWO on your travels.
